NOIDA: The district administration has made it mandatory for all hotels, restaurants, clubs and marriage halls to seek an ‘occasional’ bar license from the excise department to serve liquor at parties in any of these venues.
In an order on Tuesday, district magistrate Suhas LY said that hotels, restaurants, clubs and marriage halls will need the ‘occasional’ license to serve liquor at parties.
The license application process has been made online via the excise department’s portal, where fixed fees will be charged. Violation of the norms will lead to action under the UP Excise Act and an FIR will be lodged, according to the district administration.
Officials said that around Christmas, New Year and even during the wedding season, owners of these venues arrange liquor for guests without a license. “To curb the practice, the occasional licence has been made mandatory,” he said.
